Frequently Asked Questions

What are FICO® Credit Scores?

Your credit score is a three digit number ranging from 300-850 that represents how financially responsible you are. The higher the number, the better your score. Your credit score is calculated from your credit report, a history of your credit information. Not sure if you have a credit report? If you have ever opened a credit card or loan, you have a one.

How your FICO® Credit Score is determined.

Your City & County FICO® credit score is determined by TransUnion®, a consumer credit reporting agency, collecting credit data from your credit report. The credit data will be separated into categories and those categories determine how your credit score is calculated.

How are credit scores calculated?

There are five categories used to calculate your score and each has a different weight in making up your FICO®credit score.

  • 35% Payment History
  • 30% Amounts Owed
  • 15% Length of Credit History
  • 10% New Credit
  • 10% Credit Mix
